Когда ты начал заниматься музыкой?
Я занимаюсь музыкой всю свою жизнь. Сначала я начал играть на пианино, потом на гитаре и на барабанах. И на втором курсе средней школы я всерьез начал увлекаться рэпом. Все началось с того, что я просто фристайлил для удовольствия, но потом мои друзья начали говорить мне, что я мог бы заняться этим по настоящему, поэтому я начал серьезно заниматься рэпом, когда мне было 16 лет.
Как ты выбрал для себя такой псевдоним?
Это забавно, потому что я позаимствовал Juice из фильма «Juice», в котором принимал участие 2Pac. Таким образом, у меня появилась первая половина моего псевдонима, как раз в то время, когда я начал делать рэп. И я честно даже не знаю, откуда взялось слово «wrld», я просто пытался быть креативным.
Теперь я задам следующий вопрос, ты рос в Чикаго, расскажи как творчество других местных исполнителей повлияли на твою музыку?
Ну, когда я впервые начал записывать свои треки, я был действительно вдохновлен Chief Keef. Это был мой любимый рэпер. У меня в треках есть похожие на его стиль моменты. Он одно из моих самых больших вдохновений. У меня было время, когда я слушал Lil Durk и всех приезжающих в Чикаго исполнителей. Все они влияют на то, как я создаю музыку. Keef использует много автотюна, и я тоже это делаю.
Что еще вдохновляет тебя на написание новых треков?
Я слушаю абсолютно все виды музыки, поэтому всеми ими и вдохновляюсь, даже роком. Мне нравится просто называть себя музыкантом, который может делать и использовать много разных звуков. Поэтому я могу записать рэп-песню, а затем взять и сделать музыку с живой группой, если захочу.
Твой последний проект называется «999», почему именно так?
Когда моя мама впервые услышала это, она спросила: «Это ты?» Именно поэтому я решил назвать так свой релиз.
Тебе не кажется, что в этом есть что-то демоническое?
Да, но это скорее противоположное демоническому, я пережил много дерьма, и было похоже на то, что я попаду в ад. Но я изменился, и поэтому цифры 999 являются для меня символом переворота в моей душе.

Что сумасшествие, так это то, что это был твой первый большой проект, и ты получил много положительных отзывов и приобрел огромную поддержку в социальных сетях и на Soundcloud.
Да, это сумасшествие, и изначально я даже не собирался делать микстейп. Я просто отправился в студию, забронировал 6 часов, просто заперся там и сделал 80% работы. И после этого я дропнул микстейп, а затем вернулся еще на два часа в другой день и сделал Moonlight и Lucid Dreams.
Какие планы на будущее?
Я хочу организовать пару концертов, снять несколько видеоклипов и записать много новой музыки.

1) Джареду Хиггинсу еще нет 20 лет — исполнится в декабре. Он родился в Чикаго, и неудивительно, что среди тех, кто повлиял на него, Juice WRLD называет Chief Keef и местную дрилл-сцену. Но этим он не ограничивается: «Я помню, что мои старшие слушали старого Gucci, старого Wayne, старого Birdman, а я не мог — моя мама была очень консервативной христианкой. Она не хотела, чтобы я рос, как другие, слушала старый госпел. А я хотел слушать Gucci и Jeezy, но не мог запомнить все слова, поэтому сочинял за них. Так всё и началось».

2) Почему Juice WRLD? Причина проста: первую часть своего прозвища он взял от названия фильма «Juice» с Тупаком Шакуром. Вторая появилась по более прозаичному поводу — к своему первому концерту Джаред посчитал, что Juice звучит слишком просто и добавил словечко покруче.
3) Ежедневная работа — не для него. «Я работал на заводе две недели и меня уволили. Другой работы у меня никогда не было, я ненавидел её. Там были люди, проработавшие 20 лет на одном месте, и они пытались меня приободрить: «Ты можешь пробиться в нашей компании!» Но кому это нужно?! Люди обрубают свою жизнь в 30 лет и говорят: «Вот так, проработаю здесь до конца жизни». Обычный человек скажет тебе пойти в колледж, а потом устроиться на работу. Но ведь в жизни много всего другого, возможности безграничны.
4) Свой первый трек он опубликовал на Soundcloud в 2015 году под именем JuicetheKidd. В 2017-м, летом, вышел EP, на котором оказался трек «Lucid Dreams», один из двух его больших хитов. На вопрос, почему его песен не было на цифровых платформах, скромный Джаред пожимает плечами: «Да мы просто не знали, как это делать». Tuesday, December 8th, 2020 marked the one-year anniversary of Jarad Higgins’ death.

Juice Wrld’s meaning use of the 999 dates back to his debut EP and arguably before that as the rapper endured a troubled childhood but turned that into a successful music career before his untimely death.

The singer clarified that the figure was an inversion of 666, also known as the beast’s symbol, a religious word that means Satan. “999 reflects bringing whatever the sick, whatever the poor, whatever the challenge you are going through and transforming it into something constructive to drive yourself forward,” said Juice WRLD.
