Hello. I need someone to help recover my Word file ASAP. At the moment, I’m struggling with my BA thesis, which has to be done this Friday. A half of an hour my PC crashed due to the electricity problems and the worst thing is that the word document with BA was opened. Now I can’t open it due to the “Microsoft Office cannot open this file because some parts are missing or invalid” error. For some unknown reason, autosave was disabled, and I did not know that. I did not touch anything after that because I’m afraid to lose my work. Could you please help to recover the file?

I’ve been trying to solve this problem for weeks now without any success and although usually I would just accept my fate, it hurts to lose all of the better poems I’ve written the last three years. But I’m not a professional so if you tell me there is nothing to do I will accept that because this is literally my last idea.
The problem is the following:
As you can see I attached my damaged file. Some time ago my C drive changed so my friend saved everything in C as «Windows Old», I only forgot to save some files, one of them was the one attached here. When I tried to open it after the new C drive I couldn’t and the problem still stands. When I try to open it this message pops up: «We can’t open első vers.docx because we found a problem with its contents.» (not sure if I translated it correctly)». Details: «The file is corrupt and cannot be opened». After I click OK and then YES the same message comes up: «We can’t open első vers.docx because we found a problem with its contents.» but in the details the text changed: «Microsoft Office cannot open this file because some parts are missing or invalid.»
If anyone can help I will be most grateful forever.

I’ve read many articles about this issue and I’ve tried everything I found, namely:

a) Tried to open it as «Open and Repair»

b) Tried it with «Recover Text from Any File»

If you upload a copy of the file to a folder on your OneDrive and set that FOLDER to be shared and get a link to the folder and paste it into a message that you post back here, someone may be able to recover the file for you.

Alternatively, upload a copy of the document to the following folder of my OneDrive

and send me an email to the address shown in my signature and I will see if I can recover your document.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to recover anything from your document as it is not possible to open the archive that contains the components of the document.

The type of corruption of the file suggests that it was opened in Word when it was located on a USB Drive, or saved from Word directly to such a drive.

You should never work with Word documents when they are located on a USB drive or save from Word directly to such a drive. Catastrophic, unrecoverable corruption of the document is an almost certain consequence.

This is how this problem got solved for me, Thank God.

1- I started the «task manager» and switched to the «Processes» tab,

(Note that you may not find any microsoft office application on the «Applications» tab so switch to the «Processes» tab)

2- then searched for any opened microsoft application till i found a one with the name «WINWORD.EXE», so i ended it by pressing «end task».

3- After that i went again to the word document which had the problem and opened it.

4- I got the error message but with the repaired file inside the office word,

5- I closed the error message and pressed on the repaired file that appeared to the left side of the screen (in case of the English office word 2007).

6- Then I found my data and saved the file to another place.

From when is he/she facing this issue, did the user make any changes on the computer prior to the issue?

Which version of Word is he/she using? Please first try to r ename the global template (Normal.dotm) and then verify result:
