Outgoing reliable buffer overflow ark как исправить
Greeting Ark community.
I run a private cluster of servers for myself and friends at home on a dedicated server PC. When transferring characters between the three servers I consistently get a «outgoing reliable buffer overflow» error. It happens after you transfer to the new server when you pick your spawn point. I’ve done a lot of looking and have found posts on people having the error but no real definitive reason for it (or possible fix for the issue).
I am wondering: Anyone know what causes the error? How common is this and has anyone found a fix for it?
Thanks to all that reply!
Its because your character file is too big, therefore you get an overflow of information on the server when you spawn after downloading character
Fix is
1. live with it
2. dont learn every engram
3. dont carry too much
4. a mix of 2 and 3

There wasn’t really a fix. The more «info» your chr carries to the new server the more likly the chance of the error. That includes everything from engrams to items. It’s not as much of an issue for non modded servers but the servers I was running were heavly modded. It’s very important that all modded servers run the exact same mods even if they don’t apply to that severs (say water mods on SE) to prevent issues.
Hope that helps a bit 8)

5. Have 32GB of RAM. or more
I’ve had this. I was told that it’s either because of having too many engrans learned or too much in inventory. I mindwiped and stopped transferring with bags full of stuff, haven’t had the issue since. I have noticed if I leave default survivor items turned on and transfer with a bunch of skins it usually will DC me.

A Friend of mine got the problem that he cant join my server and get this message when get kicked, I already searched the internet for solution but they all tell to kill or delete character/ reset engrams or something else, but he doesent have a character he never was on the server.
Me and someone else have this only 1 time and after joining the second time we are on the Server, only my friend never gets on the Server.
Edit: Another friend now got the same problem, but he has a really good PC and good internet
Informations: We have a Server with 10 mods
We do NOT use auto engram unlock
We have a custom Workshop map
none of our mods spawn any dinos in the open world, only craftable ones
He can join official Server.
He makes it on the Server after joining 10-15 times so its really random.
here is some info that i found interesting which could give you some clues or things to try

So for clients there is a buffer, kind of like memory, where it holds data waiting to be processed by the client. This could be anything that replicates to your client and everything in effect contributes to this buffer. It could be polygons and tri’s from rendering, animations, number of engrams learned, items on you (cryopods have the biggest impact since it’s holding dino data in a tiny item), dinos, structures (dynamic changing ones have the biggest impact), and every time you open an inventory holding Ark Data than all three tabs of data get replicated to you, and there’s more. Everything that your client actually has to process goes towards this. When the buffer limit is reached than «unreliable» events (or those set to not be absolutely mandatory in firing) will cease to fire, but events set as «reliable» have that mandatory flag and if it can’t execute than it causes a hard failure. It’s hard to define what is set as reliable but we can imagine that events tied to a player connecting would be considered reliable whereas throwing an item on the ground to trigger the respective animation would be unreliable. Thus, when this client data reaches it’s limit and you trigger a reliable event. this is how you get: Reliable Outgoing Buffer Overflow.
In short, your client/game is processing too much data. Lowering graphics or learning less engrams or anything to reduce your data to process will help. Also, the faster your storage device (SSDs win here), the faster it can process this data which helps it from overflowing. The faster it processes out, the less chance of it reaching the limit.

ARK: Survival Evolved
Everytime I try and connect it loads, sometimes even seeming to get to my character standing up, then disconnects me with the rror «Outgoing reliable buffer overflow».
Was working fine pre-patch.
Had the same Problem. Every startup failed because of this buffer overflow.
Try to start the game in the launcher with the point «without sky effects»
Works for me atm. I can play again.
But i ordered a new RAM kit with 32GB today.
My system runs out of memory when Ark world loading. I have only 8GB atm.
Hope it helped you and sry for my english
Thanks for the suggestion. I tried all of the settings, including low memory ones, different bandwidth settings, even wiped and reinstalled the game.
Eventually it worked after just trying to login a ton of times. It is only a particular server that has a ton of dinos and buildings.
I am running a linked server set up and the links worked great until the update. It said to fix missing objects when traveling between servers but we never had that problem. The only problem we had was missing engrams which were restored if you reclogged in. This new problem occurred with the update 247.6 now when ever you go from one server to another a message «Outgoing Reliable Buffer Overflow» comes up and drops you to the main log in screen for Ark. This is a problem for everyone on my servers and really destroys game quality. Please help with this problem. All servers have been brought down and reinstalled and every one has reinstalled the game on there end with no change. Its like it is trying to install the map side twice when transferring from one server to the other. Once again it worked great before the patch. Thanks in advance for the help.

This isn’t a problem of any buffer or graphic settings on client side.
This is a problem of ARK itself.
Having a server running with many mods and therefore many additional engrams will cause this error. If you’re transferring a bunch of items in your inventory additionally, then this will burden the buffer, too. Because of this, and it is expected, it is called a «relieable» buffer overflow. They have a sense of humor, the devs!
Every time I change the server with my character, I get this error. It’s already built into my timeline, because waiting for the client to acquire this error takes a couple of minutes, including a long mod load time in rejoin strategy:
Then, the client needs to be CLOSED! Don’t let it stay open and rejoin your server, because this can lead to data inconsistency. Wait for ARK to shutdown completely as a task.
Simply re-login onto the server you wanted to travel to. You will see your character with all your engrams & goods back alive. Sometimes, but only sometimes, one engram or another gets «lost». How this does happen, I’m not completely sure, but overall all character settings should remain.
Oh, and another tip for players on dedicated servers:
After each join or travel perform a bed travel. This will clean up stats, engrams & weird behaviour regarding your character, including having additional and virtual «slots» in your inventory, not showing you’re full after usage of 300 stacks/slots. There’s a danger that you will lose items/resources. Simply place two beds next to each other, so you won’t lose your stuff if you travel in the same house.
This isn’t a problem of any buffer or graphic settings on client side.
This is a problem of ARK itself.

So you are saying its a serverside issue? Please elaborate and explain why this happens.
Also please explain how your explanation directly contradicts Lethals explanation, posted below.

so are we the only 2 people who got this problem?
EDIT: i can’t join my main server (official 262), joining another server isn’t a problem it seems. Also i already ‘verified my integrity cache’. It didn’t do anything.
This is an old problem mostly happens when traveling between servers with either a lot of stuff in your inventory or a lot of unlocked engrams (when all engrams enable or mod/plugin that unlock all engrams and especially when you have a mod like s+ that add a lot of engrams to the list) or a combination of both. i did notice this error happening lately more then before even without traveling between server just logging back after few hours l8er i got that error and wasn’t able to connect until that character died in game (friend in tribe kill it) then i was able to log back in to the game). this problem should have been fixed long time ago but instead it manifest more then before.
@MrK try to ask a tribe m8 to kill your character in game it might help.
